Mixed Voices?

Postby Faelandaea » Tue Jul 04, 2017 5:18 pm

For the last couple versions of EVP, I am getting a LOT of mixed voices. Especially when ATC is reading tail numbers or clearances. On my live stream currently is a great example of this because we're hearing it all throughout the flight.

Example: ATS says "contact departure on 124.4" ... the "one two four point..." is in a male voice, and the last "four" is in a female voice.

Anyone else encountering this or know of a fix? On the latest update of EVP I was hoping a fix would be included, but the issue is still there.

Here is my troubleshooting checklist thus far:

  • Prepar3d is currently 4.0.28.21686
  • Edit Voicepack v5.5.1
  • ATC Phraseology: FAA
  • Airline Callsign: Update
  • Voice Speed: Maximum
  • On page where I adjust the speed of the voices, I click all the samples and they sound just fine. No mixed up recordings.

I am having this problem too. Latest version 5.5.1 using Prepared v4. Male and female voices completely mixed together also noticed some weird callsigns too. Any chance of a fix please, Edit voice pack xl is probably my favourite ever Fsx/P3d addon. I have been using it for years and I can't ever remember noticing this problem before.

Thanks!

I will look into it as soon as time permits. Which is hopefully before the weekend, but I can't promise that.

The generation of the voicefiles has been 100% reweitten for the 5.5 version - it was required for me to continue moving forward. I might have cut too much back on the final testing - sorry about that. :(

Are you 100% sure this has been going on for "a few versions"? Do you have any idea how long you have seen it?

Out of curiosity, I still have the 5.4.1 installer downloaded. If I uninstall 5.5.1 and reinstall 5.4.1, do you think there is any reason why it wouldn't work with the current P3Dv4 hotfix until a fixed version can be released? Thanks.

You will probably need to delete the folder "C:\ProgramData\EditVoicepackX\Updater", but then it should work.

Hi. I completely uninstalled 5.5.1 and reinstalled 5.4.1, chose my settings and the wav files were regenerated, but the callouts in 5.4.1 are still definitely mixing male and female voices in the same sentences. It's not quite as bad as 5.5.1, but it's definitely there though.

On P3Dv4 hotfix 1.

Did you delete the folder as suggested?

Hi. I did delete the folder as you suggested before I installed 5.4.1
As far as I could see, I had completely removed evp 5.5.1 before installing a fresh 5.4.1, even going as far as removing reg entries for evp before reinstalling.

5.4.1 install went as it should ( I'm a long time evp user ), voices in sim are sped up to "fast" as they should be per my settings, but I am definitely still getting mixed male/female voices in sentences.

Example :

Atc :

[f] West jet [m] tune Edmonton approach on 115 [f] decimal [m] 4 [f] 8

Etc etc. Thanks.

Thanks anyway.

Please also check there is no Evp_L_Fsx_FSX.GVP file in the sound\ATC folder when reverting. There shouldn't be... but then, the voices should not have been mixed either.

The good news is I have identified the problem and I am close to having a fix ready. I plan to release it after addressing:
