Directory C:\FSX\Sound\ATC does not exist for Prepar3D V4

Postby jasonstory44 » Mon Sep 04, 2017 12:49 am

Trying to install 5.5.9 for the first time into Prepar3D V4. It didn't find Prepar3d.exe but that was easy enough to manually point to. But I keep getting the error that the FSX sound directory does not exist (which obviously it shouldn't for Prepar3D). How can I fix this?

Thanks Jason

Please use the Upload to Support function and let me know what the upload ID is. Then I can see why EditVoicepack looks for FSX in that location.

Hi Jason,

I had a look at the file you uploaded.

You have a registry entry pointing to a Flight Simulator X install in C:\FSX.
Inside the C:\FSX folder you have the file fsx.exe

This is enough for EditVoicepack to detect the FSX installation and attempt to load data from it - data that is not present.

I would recommend removing the registry key pointing to the C:\FSX folder, or ensure you have a valid FSX installation at the indicated location.

I also expect EditVoicepack will work if you simply delete fsx.exe or the folder (so leaving the registry entry in place).
